Today, I released my own spot calligraphy designs to a group of stationers and all but 2 had sold within the first 30 minutes 😱🥹 I could never in a million years have seen that coming and I am so grateful!

If you’re not immersed in the stationery world, spot calligraphy is used as exclusive artwork for cards, gift tags, cups, napkins, etc. What makes it so special is that it isn’t a font that can be recreated over again — the human hand can never create the exact same thing twice! So it’s a one-of-kind piece.

It’s always so special to me to see my calligraphy make its way onto your Christmas cards, napkins, and things! And now, i cant wait to see what these talented stationers do with these designs!

Exciting news today!!

But first, a reintroduction! I’m Olivia Franklin, a calligrapher based in Jackson, Mississippi, where I live in the best neighborhood of all time with my husband, Creed, and our cocker spaniel, Caamp (like the band @caamp ).

One summer in high school, my dad told me, “You need to find a job or make one” lol. I had just taken night classes at a local college to learn calligraphy so starting a calligraphy business at 17 felt like the right step😂. My last name “Montagnet” was hard to pronounce so shortening it to OM Calligraphy seemed like a sensible title for this “business.” (And no, I did not make one cent that summer hahah).

Fast forward 11 years later to this past May: I left my traditional 8-to-5 job and Creed and I bought our first home! It was crazy to leave my job at this time, but it gave me the courage and time to pursue this more seriously.

As I started forming my LLC, “OM Calligraphy” felt like the name of the side hustle I worked on after hours. It also wasn’t my name anymore (as much as I love my maiden name). Most people knew me as Olivia Franklin, while my business was still called OM Calligraphy...so it often caused confusion.

So... today, I’m excited to officially introduce...

The only things that have changed are
1) my name
2) my schedule (I’m officially part time with calligraphy!!!)

My mission is still strongly rooted in a love for art, beautiful paper, and meaningful tradition. I still create custom calligraphy for weddings and other special occasions. And I still deeply value precision, intentionality, care, high quality materials, and the very human art of creating something by hand.

Calligraphy and I are old friends, and this is our new chapter! I did not get here on my own—God placed wonderful people in my corner who have supported this little business, believed in me, and encouraged me to land where I am today. Here’s to many more years of growing and learning!! I can’t even imagine all of the love that lies ahead!

I said “yes” a lot more and “no” a lot less, and, looking back, I’m so grateful. A huge thank you so much to everyone who made this year great and supported my little corner of the world. It is such an incredible honor to be featured in Jackson’s 11th edition Scout Guide🩵🩵🩵 like wow. I grew up looking through these little books so this is just wild to me.

I had so much fun with @audrabowmanlifestyle. She has done wonders as the new editor of @tsgjacksonms and I am so so grateful to her for this opportunity 🩵 My sweet friend Elson @poemaclothiers styled me for this little shoot and I have never felt more comfortable in my own skin🥹 (And always grateful to @amontagnet who lets me bombard her house and dog anytime)

I am so proud to be a Jacksonian and I can’t wait for y’all to look through this new guide and see all of the talented businesses this sweet city has to offer.
